What is Raloxifene?

Raloxifene is a Selective Estrogen Receptor Modulator (SERM), originally developed for the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women. However, it has found a niche in bodybuilding and performance enhancement due to its ability to block estrogen activity in specific tissues, especially breast tissue.

This makes it a popular choice for managing or preventing gynecomastia (“gyno”)—a common side effect of anabolic steroid use caused by excess estrogen.

How It Works

Raloxifene works by binding to estrogen receptors in certain tissues and either activating or blocking them depending on the target area:

• Blocks estrogen in breast tissue – helps reduce or reverse early gyno

• May act like estrogen in bones and liver – but this is not typically relevant to bodybuilders

Unlike aromatase inhibitors (AIs) that lower total estrogen levels, SERMs like Raloxifene selectively block estrogen action without tanking your overall hormone balance.

Why Bodybuilders Use Raloxifene

1. Gyno Prevention & Reversal
The primary use in bodybuilding is to treat or prevent gynecomastia during or after steroid cycles. It’s often more effective than Tamoxifen (Nolvadex) in this specific use.

2. Estrogen Control Without Crashing E2
Helps manage side effects like bloating, sensitive nipples, and mood swings without crushing estrogen, which is important for libido and joint health.

3. Post-Cycle Therapy (PCT)
Raloxifene may be used in PCT protocols to stimulate natural testosterone production while managing estrogenic symptoms.

Typical Dosage & Use

• For Gyno Reversal:
  60 mg per day for 4–12 weeks (depends on severity)

• For Estrogen Management on Cycle:
  30–60 mg per day, used as needed

• During PCT (less common than Nolvadex/Clomid):
  30 mg/day for 4 weeks
